Service Technician - HVAC and Refrigeration

Our ideal HVAC and Refrigeration Service Technician will have the following skills and certifications:

  • HVAC/R Universal EPA Certification
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot commercial HVAC equipment
  • Aptitude to read and understand service manuals and related documents
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Your duties as an HVAC/R Service Technician will include the following:

  • Running service calls from our Service Coordinator team
  • Performing preventative maintenance programs
  • Surveying sites to determine the best approach for a project or job
  • Partaking in HVAC/R installations for a variety of units and systems
  • Retrofitting, modifying and repairing HVAC/R equipment, as needed
  • Accurately and clearly communicate HVAC/R work performed and problems encountered (or solved) with customers, and internal management team
  • On-call 1x every 6 weeks

All HVAC and Refrigeration Service Technicians will need to have these working and physical requirements:

  • Stand and/or walk 75% of the day
  • Bend, stoop and kneel regularly
  • Lift and twist from 6 inches on the floor, up to reach above shoulder height
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions as related to task/job at hand
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
  • Pass pre-employment background screening and drug test

Service Technician - Commercial Refrigeration

CMI Mechanical believes that our Commercial Refrigeration Service Technicians have a pulse on our clients, therefore they are an immediate representation of our highly significant company values.

We are looking for full-time Commercial Refrigeration Service Technicians that advanced knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems, good mechanical skills, and excellent troubleshooting skills. Ultimately, a top-class Refrigeration Technician expertly installs, repairs, and maintains refrigeration equipment for a client with the least amount of down-time.

As a Commercial Refrigeration Technician, you will be responsible for processing and completing work orders, installing new refrigeration systems, troubleshooting mechanical failures, and performing equipment maintenance. You may also be required to advise on equipment upgrades and alternate cooling units.

In addition, you should have the willingness to work in a team with other co-workers on various projects, take direction from team leaders, and develop a strong working relationship with clients.

Commercial Refrigeration Service Technician Skills and Certifications:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience as a Refrigeration Technician
  • HVAC certification

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and compliance schematics

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions

HVAC/R Service Technician Job Requirement:

  • Running service calls from our Service Coordinator team
  • Performing preventative maintenance programs
  • Accurately and clearly communicate Refrigeration work performed and problems encountered (or solved) with customers, and internal management team
  • Contacting the client point of contact to ascertain their equipment needs
  • Ordering equipment supplies, repair modules, and sundries for the order
  • Installing climate control systems, refrigeration units, and ice machines
  • Observing and testing newly installed systems
  • Troubleshooting refrigeration equipment failures

Service Coordinator - HVAC and Refrigeration

The Service Coordinator will work in a team environment to provide high-quality service to customers in need of service for commercial HVAC, refrigeration and installation services.

The individual selected for this position will receive commercial HVAC calls from our customers, determine the nature of the call, and open a service request in our customer database.

This person will work under the direction of the Director of National Service to track technicians throughout the day, and relay all job information to the technician before the tech is dispatched to the site.

Position hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday and reports to the Director of National Service and Director of National Accounts.

Duties and Skills Required:

  • Provide responsive customer service. Answer customer calls quickly, professionally, and pleasantly.
  • Communicate with customers in a friendly, professional and patient manner.
  • Keep customers updated on the status of work in progress.
  • Schedule all customer service requests promptly and dispatch the appropriate service technician based upon the customer, nature of the call, skill level, and response time required.
  • Review technician work tickets and customer invoices for completeness and accuracy.
  • Price proposals for service repairs
